Ditch the Dark Day 2018

10th Jan 2018

What an amazing effort from everyone today!  The children's bright outfits were wonderful, and everyone really stood out in the dark.  Thanks so much to everyone who helped make this day such a success.  We were particularly impressed by the number of children who made an active journey to school.

The children learned all about why it is so important to be safe and be seen.  They found out the difference between being bright and wearing reflective items, which show up so clearly when headlights shine on them.  We all walked around the school ground this afternoon, before a special assembly. Prizes were awarded for the best Ditch the Dark posters, drawings or colouring sheets.  Children who made an active journey were also entered into a draw for class prizes.

If you have bought a high visibility vest for your child, it would be helpful if it could be named clearly and worn to school every morning.  It can be kept in your child's school bag during the day, so that it doesn't get mixed up or lost.
