Introducing Maths Week 2018!

15th Oct 2018

To mark the start of Maths Week, the Year 4 children started thinking about how we use maths in real life situations, such as time, money, measurement and shape. They are taking part in a class competition, and are designing posters to show how useful maths is every day.

Later we had a dice game called Three in a Row. The children had to throw two dice; decide whether to add, multiply or subtract the numbers. They had to consider strategies to win, such as blocking their opponent. They also had to know what is meant by vertical, horizontal and diagonal. We discussed what the top and lowest score could be using 2 dice, and Jack knew that 6x6=36!
